On Monday, Matjaž Kek became the longest-tenured manager of a single club in the history of the CFF. He has been the Rijeka manager for 1647 consecutive days, surpassing Igor Pamić who was the previous holder of this record; Pamić was the manager of Istra for 1645 consecutive days from 2 April 2011 to 4 October 2015.
Matjaž Kek managed his first Rijeka match on 7 March 2013 and on Monday reached the enviable number - 1647. For this jubilee and his 56th birthday which he celebrated on Saturday, his players gifted him an emphatic win in the match against Cibalia.
The Slovenian has achieved results that will be hard to beat by winning a Croatian First Football League, two Croatian Football Cups, the Croatian Football Super Cup, and leading Rijeka to the Europa League group three times.
So far, Kek has managed Rijeka in 223 matches, achieving 139 victories, 54 draws, and 30 losses.
